Oliver C. Chase

STERLING – Oliver C. Chase, 66, of Sterling, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at his home. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. until retiring.

Oliver was born Aug. 28, 1946, in Alexandria, Minn., the son of John Wilson and Bernice Irene (Pontsler) Chase. Oliver attended Rock River Christian Center in Rock Falls. He often shared his love of music through song and his Martin guitar. He also enjoyed participating in community theater productions of “1776” and “Annie Get Your Gun.” He was an avid reader of fine literature, and a frequent visitor to the Sterling Public Library.

Survivors include two daughters, Alexandra (Jared) Burge and Katherine Chase, both of Sterling; one sister, Lois (Kenneth) Helfrich of Dixon; two brothers, Donald Chase of Sterling and John Wilson (Beth) Chase Jr. of Mount Morris; two grandchildren, Jody and Killian Burge; and several nieces and nephews.
