The city of Amboy will conclude its fiscal year on April 30. Our yearly audit will show that our expenses were controlled everywhere but sewer and water.
Our water mains and our sanitary sewer system continue to require repairs and updating because of the age of our infrastructure. We are currently looking into a generator for the lift station on Rockyford Road to have continued service when we have a power outage and also to stop power surges from outages that burn out motors and electrical switching gear.
Last year, Maplehurst Elevator purchased property from the city of Amboy and spent more than $1 million in building improvements and is planning to spend another $1 million in improvements this calendar year.
This calendar year, Casey’s General Store purchased three properties for expansion. Casey’s plans to spend in excess of $1.5 million this year in Amboy.
All of this adds up to more jobs and an increased tax base for Amboy. The city council continues to work diligently at being fiscally responsible to the citizens of Amboy.
