Man arrested in Troy after 14-hour standoff
TROY (AP) — Authorities in the southwestern Illinois city of Troy say a man who held police at bay for about 14 hours surrendered before being treated at a hospital for an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police in Troy says the man walked out of the home early Tuesday after officers fired tear gas into the structure.
Authorities say the standoff began Monday morning shortly after the man called emergency dispatchers and indicated he was suicidal. That forced an evacuation of the neighborhood.
