Published: Saturday, March 23, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

OREGON – The Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department recently published the second edition of the Ogle County Waste Disposal & Recycling “Green Guide."

The publication is designed to help residents reduce waste, recycle more, and find ways to safely dispose of different types of waste.

The free guide provides information on waste disposal laws, listings of landfills, waste haulers and recyclers, and comprehensive guidelines for recycling. It also includes an alphabetical listing of materials and recycling or disposal options for each material.

Residents are encouraged to reduce waste first, reuse items, then attempt to recycle as much as possible, and finally to safely dispose of any remaining waste.

Listings of tire recyclers, junk yards accepting scrap metal, motor oil recyclers, thrift shops, and more information is included.

The “Green Guide” is available at most village or city halls, local libraries, senior centers, Chambers of Commerce, park districts and forest preserves, and the Ogle County Courthouse, 105 S. Fifth St. One also can be picked up at the Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department, 909 W. Pines Road, or call 815-732-4020 to request a copy. Visit www.oglecountysolidwaste.org where it will be on line soon.
