Floyd ‘Ken’ Fox

DIXON – Floyd “Ken” Fox, 92, of Dixon, died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Liberty Court Assisted Care Living Facility. He had worked for Commonwealth Edison for 35 years, retiring in 1981.

He was born Dec. 26, 1920, in Dixon, the son of Floyd and Marie (Curran) Fox. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, where he was an usher for 20 years. Ken was an avid Notre Dame fan.

He married Hazel F. Byers on Jan. 6, 1943, in Waco, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2010.

He is survived by a son, James Fox of Freeport; a daughter, Sherry Koechig of Dixon; and a grandson, Thomas Koechig of Palatine.

There will be no visitation. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bernard Sehr officiating. Burial, with military honors by the combined veterans group, will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Jones Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon.
