Firefighters seek training vehicles

Published: Tuesday, March 19, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

MOUNT MORRIS – The Mount Morris Fire Protection District, which responds to many accidents that involve extrication, is looking for vehicles to be used for training purposes.

New vehicles are being produced with more advanced construction methods, fuel delivery systems, lightweight components, airbag safety systems, and computer-controlled security, and it is important that firefighters stay educated on the changes – and on the techniques needed to safely and swiftly rescue accident victims, Lt. Mark Lewis noted in a news release.

Anyone with a vehicle to donate is asked to email mlewis5726@mountmorrisfire.com or call 815-734-4322, ext. 103, to make arrangements.

The owner must sign over the title and will receive a letter verifying the donation for tax purposes.
