Wayne E. Sobanski Sr.

AMBOY – Wayne E. Sobanski Sr., 74, of Amboy, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home following a sudden illness. 

He was born April 6, 1938, in Chicago, the son of Frank and Esther (Strempel) Sobanski. He had owned and operated Wayne’s Trackside East in Amboy. He was an Army veteran.

He married Patricia Paluch on Sept. 1, 1956, in Chicago. She preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2010.

He is survived by his children, Gregory (Tanya) Sobanski, Rosanne (Kenneth) Dedo, and Alan Sobanski, all of Crestwood, Wayne E. Sobanski Jr. of Cicero, Leonard D. Sobanski of Midlothian and Charlotte Sobanski of Amboy; sisters Ruth Crone of Oklahoma City, and Elaine Gorka of  Palos Park; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three nieces.

He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou, and a brother, Willard Sobanski.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today and the funeral at 7 p.m. today at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, with the Rev. Charles Jeanblanc officiating. Cremation rites will follow.
