AMBOY – Morris F. Forman, 91, of Amboy, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at his daughter’s home.

He was born July 20, 1921, in Elizabeth, Ind., the son of Gilbert and Inez (McElfresh) Forman. He married Marian (Wiser) Walters on Dec. 19, 1945. She preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 2012.

He and his wife owned and operated Forman Nursing Home and Mapleside Manor Nursing Home in Amboy from 1949 until 1995. He was considered a pioneer in the nursing home field and was on the Governors Board in Springfield.

He had been a member and past Exalted Ruler of Dixon Elks Lodge 779, and also was a member St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy.

As an avid fisherman, he and a group of businessmen bought the old Powers Pit, which gave him many enjoyable times of fishing.

He is survived by a daughter, Sylvia (Gary) Schultz of Amboy; five grandchildren, Michele (Gregory Wilhelm) Egan of Amboy, Roxanne Egan of Elk Grove Village, Suzanne E. (Brian Propheter) Egan of Amboy, Jason (Elisa) Egan of Wheaton, and Jessica (Aaron) Lanning of Franklin Grove; five great-grandchildren, Sophia E. Propheter, Abigayle Egan, and Dillon, Peyton, and Isabella Lanning; a sister, Darlene Haws of Pana; and many nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roy and Joseph Forman; and sisters Ruth Reuter and Irma Swain.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy. The Rev. Msgr. Thomas Bales will officiate.

Burial of cremains will follow in Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center.
