DIXON – Clara E. Pettinger, 79, of Dixon, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Rock Falls Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Clara was born July 2, 1933 in Mayfield, Ky,. the daughter of Marvin and Myrtle (Powers) Gibson. She married Joseph M. Pettinger on Aug. 8, 1959, in Dixon. She was employed at the Dixon Developmental Center for several years.

Survivors include her husband of Dixon; two daughters, Mary Smith and Lois (Randy) Dober, both of Dixon; one son, William (Beverly) Pettinger of Mount Morris; three sisters, Barbara (Margarito) Rangel of Sterling, Linda McGee of Hickory, N.C., and Lois Muldoon of Chicago; one brother, Ernest (Chona) Gibson of the Philippines; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Gibson and two in infancy.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with Msgr. Thomas Dzielak officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
