CHICAGO (AP) – A DuPage County judge has ordered a Cook County colleague recently found not guilty by reason of insanity on a misdemeanor battery charge to keep up her psychiatric treatment.

Judge Cynthia Brim faced a stay in an Illinois psychiatric hospital had she been found guilty of shoving a Cook County sheriff’s deputy.

On Friday, Judge Liam Brennan said he agreed with an Illinois Department of Human Services’ evaluation that found Brim is “a low risk for violence.”

Brim, who has been suspended indefinitely with pay, wouldn’t comment after Brennan’s action.
