CHICAGO (AP) — President Barack Obama has arrived in the Chicago area, where he's scheduled to speak at Argonne National Laboratory.
Obama arrived in Chicago on Friday morning. He's scheduled to speak at the suburban facility Friday afternoon. Matthew Howard is communications director for Argonne National Laboratory. He says Obama's visit is the first presidential visit since 1992. That's when President George H. Bush visited Argonne.
Obama is expected to discuss research into clean energy technologies. The research laboratory is about 25 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.
