Chance to meet the candidates for city offices

STERLING – The Sauk Valley Landlord Association will have a Meet the Candidates night on Thursday.

The event will feature candidates for election in municipal races in Sterling and Rock Falls, said Rod Kleckler, president of the landlord association.

So far, Mayor David Blanton and his challenger, City Clerk Bill Wescott, have confirmed they will attend. So have Rock Falls city clerk candidates Eric Arduini, Pam Martinez and Edward Mulvaney.

All three Sterling alderman-at-large candidates have been invited. Christopher Schuchard, Javier Padilla and John Stauter are running for two open seats.

Each candidate will begin with a self-introduction. Then, candidates will answer questions from the audience. Attendees will submit questions on written cards at the event, Kleckler said.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Coventry Village, 612 W. St. Mary’s Road, Sterling. For more information on the event, call 815-590-1950. The event is open to the public.
