STERLING – Walter W. Stahl, 61, of Dixon, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. He was a truck driver for 20 years.

Walter was born Aug. 20, 1951, in Sterling, the son of Rhinehardt and Milberta (Kolb) Stahl. He married Bonnie Bass on Nov. 8, 1971, in Oregon. Walter served in the Army. In his free time, he enjoyed working on projects in the garage, working on lawn mowers, camping on the river, and playing horseshoes. He was a member of American Legion Post 12.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Stahl of Dixon; two sons, Michael (Carrie) Stahl of Milledgeville and Matthew (Keasha Laninga) Stahl of DeKalb; one daughter, Melonie (Lori Ferris) Stahl of Savanna; eight grandchildren, Cody, Kylie, Cooper, Colton, Cortlan, and Alissa Stahl, and Hayli and David Laninga.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Scott Stahl.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be at a later date. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangments.
