Teachers’ perks equal great jobs

Excuse me, but it seems if teachers want people to be sympathetic toward your cause, just bring up the reason you are on strike: “It’s for the children.” And I believe in the Easter Bunny.

It’s all about money for yourselves and the union. You went into the teaching profession to teach and contribute to society. Or would it be because you would work approximately 180 days a year and have the summer off?

In any case, the raises the union and teachers are demanding are only dreams to the average person who works at a job all year and receives 2 or 3 weeks’ vacation.

Most workers in factories, retail establishments, restaurants and warehouses were lucky to get 1 percent raises in the last 3 years, let alone a 4 percent raise in the last 4 years before retirement. That usually is age 65, not 50 or 55, after putting in 20 to 25 years as teachers are able to do.

You are right; the children need to be taught. And you should also learn the jobs you have with all the perks are great jobs. So quit telling the taxpayers you deserve more.
