Earl A. Miller

MOUNT MORRIS – Earl A. Miller, 74, of Mount Morris, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in Mount Morris.

Earl was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Fargo, N.D., the son of Chester and Esther (Fetting) Miller. Earl married Patricia Hambley on Oct. 5, 1957, in Rock Falls. Earl was a pipefitter and plumber for Kable Printing Co., retiring in 2002. He also was part owner of Plum Electric for 12 years. He was a board member of Mount Morris Church of the Brethren, Sunset Golf Club in Mount Morris, and Mount Morris Senior Center. Earl loved fishing, golfing, spending winters in Texas, gardening, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Earl did so much for so many people.

Earl is survived by his wife, Pat Miller of Mount Morris; sons, Jim (Janell) Miller of Forreston, and Roger (Colleen) Miller of Mount Morris; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron Janes) Moser of Mount Morris, Deanna Leach and Nicki (Rick) Morningstar, both of Oregon, Josh (Becky) Miller of Decatur, Kari (Ryan Felkamp) Miller of Streamwood, Amie (Brian) Miller of Leaf River, and Christie (Darrick Port) Miller of Milledgeville; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clifford (friend, Lois) Miller of Rock Falls, Curtis (Muriel) Miller of Mount Morris, and Dennis (Leona) Miller of Fulton; sister, Judy (Glen) Virgin of Henderson, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.  

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane “Bud,” Lester, Gordon, Wallace, Gerald, and Ronald; and sisters, Viola, Doris, Charlotte, Betty, Ruth, Joan, Mildred, and Ruby.

Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and the memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Morris Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Virginia Haney officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunset Golf Club, Mount Morris Senior Center, Mount Morris Church of the Brethren, or Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home.
