PAW PAW – Elementary school Students of the Month for January have been announced in Paw Paw.

Those honored are Ava Casey, kindergarten; Hanna Jones, first grade; Jacob Alderson, second grade; Shayne Prodzenski, third grade; Jessica Solis, fourth grade; Lia Cooper, fifth grade; Isabel Abbott, speech (fourth grade); Johnathan Herendeen, special education (third grade); and Trysta Foster, physical education (fourth grade).

Illinois State Scholars at Paw Paw High School are Samuel Dunklau, Kersten Kidd, and Melinda Oates.

Preschool screenings and kindergarten advanced registration will be April 12 at Paw Paw Elementary School, 511 Chapman St. The screenings will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon by appointment only. Call 815-627-2671.Registration for kindergarten will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2;30 p.m. Appointments are not needed.

The high school World Youth in Science and Engineering team earned third place in Division 300 at the WYSE Regional Competition. Dunklau received third place in biology and John Hoelzer, earned second in both English and engineering graphics.

Elementary school students will perform “Gingerbread Girl” at 5 p.m. April 20 in the high school gym. Practices are under way; Jodee Howell is the director.

Cast members are Casey, Italia Howell, Makenzy Bevans, Tess Clayton, Finn Clayton, Jillian Hanson, Autumn Miller, Jacob Pierce, Jonathan Bevans, Cooper, and Kayla Silva.
