Rutherford: No announcement yet on governor's race

CHICAGO (AP) — Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford says he won't make an announcement about a 2014 gubernatorial run until late spring or early summer.

Rutherford told reporters Monday that he's waiting for the right time. He says one factor is the April 9 general election, when voters will go to the polls to elect officials to municipal offices statewide and to choose a replacement for former Congressmen Jesse Jackson Jr.

Rutherford is among several Republicans who are mulling runs next year. They include Congressman Aaron Schock and state Sen. Kirk Dillard.

Rutherford says he doesn't want campaign while others are facing election.

Quinn says he's prepared for a challenge.
