DIXON – A new manufacturing plant is on its way to Dixon, Mayor Jim Burke announced Monday.
The mayor said he was unable to release the name of the company, its location or any specifics until today.
Starting at the beginning of the year, Burke told Sauk Valley Media he was working on bringing a new industry to town.
The mayor said the manufacturer’s executives today will announce their plans to move the plant from Mexico to Dixon.
A news conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in the board room of the Lee County Industrial Development Association, 101 W. Second St., second floor.
AZZ Galvanizing in Dixon is expected to be a supplier to the new manufacturer, as its plant manager Mike Echebarria will be in attendance. AZZ configures, designs, manufactures, tests and installs products that distribute electrical power between generators, transformers, switching devices and other electrical equipment.
Details to be announced today will include the product line, job projections, startup timeline, and the purchase of real estate, Burke said.
