Morrison schools to host contest

MORRISON – Morrison Junior High and High schools will host a junior high music contest Saturday at the high school auditorium, 643 Genesee Ave.

Schools attending will include Fulton Middle School, Riverdale Middle School of Port Byron, Rock Falls Middle School, and Erie Middle School.

Morrison’s junior high band will play at 8:25 a.m., the sixth-grade choir at 10:40 a.m., and the seventh- and eight-grade choir at 11:40 a.m.

In addition to band and choir performances, students will perform solos and ensembles at the junior high, 300 Academic Drive. The honors recital will be at 3:30 p.m. at the high school.

The Morrison band and choirs will preview their contest selections in a preconcert performance at 7 p.m. Thursday at the high school. The Morrison Southside School fifth-grade band will be the featured performers on a piece titled “Beginners Debut.” The band will be joined by the junior high band for a medley.

All performances are open to the public; there is no charge to attend.
