STERLING – Guadalupe O. Munoz, 74, of Sterling, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.

Born Oct. 27, 1938, in McAllen, Texas, she was the daughter of Sixto and Magdalena (Garza) Ortega. On Aug. 5, 1958, she was united in marriage to Yrineo Munoz in Princeton. She worked for General Electric in Morrison for 30 years before retiring.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Guadalupe was an avid bowler and enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking and gardening.

Surviving are her husband, Yrineo of Sterling; two daughters, Olivia (Benigno) Quintero of Aurora and San Juanita (Kelly) Babin of Sterling; three sons, Rudolpho G. (Marcia) Ortega of Morrison, Alfredo Munoz of River Forest and Reymundo O. Munoz of Sterling; her sisters, Maria (Raul) Rodriguez of Oswego, Irene (Jose) Monarrez of Sterling, San Juana (Jose) Cortez) of Alton, Texas and Herminia (Humberto) Garcia of Sterling; her brothers, Irineo Ortega of McAllen, Texas, Inocencio (Florence) Ortega of Joliet and Sixto Ortega Jr. of Houston, Texas; a sister-in-law, Isidra Ortega of McAllen, Texas; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Natalio Ortega.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with the rosary at 5 p.m., at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Juan Ayala, celebrant, officiating.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.  

A memorial has been established to St. Mary Catholic Church or Susan G. Komen For the Cure foundation.
