STERLING – Narciso A. Puentes Sr. died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at CGH Medical Center. He was employed for 44 years until his retirement at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co.

Narciso was born Oct. 29, 1934, in San Benito, Texas, the son of Leandro G. and Ventura (Aguilar) Puentes. He married Irma Rodriguez on Sept. 14, 1954, in Sterling. Narciso was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Irma; one son, Narcisco (Betti) Puentes Jr. of Sterling; two daughters, Diana (William) Fichtenmueller and Elva Puentes, both of Sterling; two sisters, Eva Gallegos of Sterling and Eduvina Suarez of Independence, La.; three grandchildren, Jasmine (Gordon Harris) Fichtenmueller, Aja (Juan) Monarrez, and Carynn Puentes; and four great-grandchildren, Xia and Nia Harris and Santiago and Piper Monarrez.
