Free historical programs Monday and Wednesday
DIXON – Free programs about regional history will be presented Monday and Wednesday in the second-floor conference room at KSB Hospital, 403 E. First St.
The Lee County Genealogical Society will give a presentation at 7 p.m. Monday about Camp Grant, a military camp during World Wars I and II near Rockford.
The grounds of the camp now contain Rockford International Airport, the Camp Grant Museum, and a restaurant. Speaking will be Stan and Yolanda Weisensel of Rockford, who will address the camp's history, and Lester Eckberg of Walnut, who was 18 when he served as an Army private and prisoner of war guard at the camp.
