DIXON – The Rock River Valley Shamrock Club’s annual St. Patrick’s Day party and parade, featuring popular Chicago-based Celtic duo Switchback, returns March 16.
The parade begins at 3 p.m. at Dixon High School, and winds through downtown Dixon, ending at the Dixon Knights of Columbus Hall, 506 W. Third St.
The route goes across the Peoria Avenue bridge, turning south at the Ronald Reagan Statue, west on First Street, up to the post office, and on to the KC hall, where the part begins.
Entry in the parade is free. Awards will be given for the best parade entries.
Admission to the party, which will feature a corned beef and cabbage dinner, raffles, live and silent auctions and a 50/50 drawing, is by monetary donation or canned goods for the Dixon Food Pantry.
Chicago-based Switchback – Marty McCormack and Brian FitzGerald – will play their blend of American roots and Celtic soul, starting at 5 p.m.
