Members of school board are accessible

Published: Friday, March 8, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

This letter is written in response to Carolyn Brechon’s letter on March 5 questioning Dixon’s school board accessibility.

I am a personal friend (who has five children in the school system currently) to one of the board members, and he has told me that he has responded to at least 25 emails and phone calls, and to the best of his knowledge, all the board members are doing their best to fulfill the obligations of their positions to the public.

Carolyn also claims that teachers are not allowed to contact board members. This is also not true. My friend has been contacted by two different teachers who knew who they were talking to.

If someone has a question regarding the strike and wants to contact a board member, get a phonebook. They are all in there, or go to the Dixon Public Schools website, click on the “district” tab, and then “board of education.”
