Storm bringing heavy snow to central Illinois
CHAMPAIGN (AP) — A winter storm that held the possibility of up to 8 inches of snow across parts of central Illinois has caused some airports to cancel flights and led schools to call off extracurricular activities.
Snow continued to fall across much of the central Illinois on Tuesday afternoon. But totals were moderate — 3 inches in Morton, an inch and a half in Bloomington and Champaign and an inch in Danville.
Some flights in and out of airports in Peoria and Bloomington were cancelled. Most of those affected were to and from Chicago, where heavier snowfall is forecast.
