Alta M. Wehmeyer
AMBOY – Alta M. Wehmeyer, 91, of Amboy, formerly of Polo, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at Amboy Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was a homemaker, the founding member of Brookville Jolly Circle Sewing Club, and a member of St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society.
Alta was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Dixon, the daughter of Maurice and Margaret (Gaffey) Russell. On Nov. 20, 1942, in Polo, she was united in marriage to Orlo Wehmeyer. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl (George) Heinz, and sons, Burdette (Diana) Wehmeyer and Burnell Wehmeyer, all of Polo; four grandchildren, Lynn (John) Fyffe of Olathe, Colo., Jeffrey (Roxann) Heinz of Kirkland, Wash., Holly Wehmeyer of Chicago, and Terri (Gale) VanRossem of Fort Myers, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Cassidy Logan, Katie and Kyle Heinz, Emily Mundy, and Lucas VanRossem; and great-great-granddaughter Sophia Villa.
