PROPHETSTOWN – Elsie C. Dahlquist, 98, of Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown, died Monday, March 4, 2013. 

She was born July 27, 1914, in Uma, Colo., the daughter of Peter and Mary Ann (Vanderloo) Bannick. 

She left Colorado when she was 9 years old and moved to the Cumberland, Iowa area. She was educated in the Iowa school system. She married there, and her children were born in that area. She moved to Lyndon in late 1945, and retired from General Electric later. She also had lived in the Rock Falls, Sterling, and Prophetstown areas later in life.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice (Terry, deceased) Hamilton of Mesa, Ariz., and Kay (Leonard) Byington of Lyndon; three sons, Lloyd (Mary Ann, deceased) Holldorf of Sterling, Larry (Bonnie) Holldorf of Morrison, and Darwin (Chris) Holldorf of Phoenix; one stepson, Richard (Elda) Dahlquist of Sterling; two stepdaughters-in-law, Marilyn (Edward, deceased) DeWitt and Jackie (Victor, deceased) Lewis of Kingman, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Delbert Holldorf, Earl DeWitt, and Melvin Dahlquist; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; four sisters; two brothers; one stepson; and one stepdaughter.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, 46 Grove St., state Route 78 North, Prophetstown, with the Rev. Rolland Hayag, pastor of Lyndon United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Lyndon Cemetery.
