Two sell cigs to minor in Rock Falls compliance checks
ROCK FALLS – Clerks at two businesses sold cigarettes to minors during tobacco compliance checks Monday, Rock Falls police said.
Barbara Brown, 72, of Rock Falls, sold cigarettes to a minor at a Walgreens store, 1700 First Ave., and Shilo Fielding, 38, of Rock Falls, did the same at a Mobil station, 201 12th Ave., police said.
Police sent a teenager younger than 18 into stores to buy cigarettes.
Brown and Fielding received city ordinance violations and could be fined $50.
The department conducts tobacco compliance checks three times a year. Ten other stores were in compliance.
