Jack and Dorothy Bond
STILLMAN VALLEY – Jack and Dorothy Bond of Stillman Valley died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at their home.
Jack was born Sept. 29, 1927, in Deer Grove, the son of Clark and Ruth (Near) Bond. Dorothy was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Sterling, the daughter of John Henry and Matilda (Berge) Dombroski. Jack married Dorothy Dombroski on Oct. 29, 1946, in Sterling. They farmed in the Davis Junction area from 1948 to 1980. After retiring from farming, the couple worked for the Byron School District. Jack was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, and served four terms as Scott Township trustee.
They are survived by four children, Wendy (Bill) Prakop of O’Fallon, Mo., Vicki Woodhouse of Rockford, Carol (Jim) Collier of Marengo, and Dan (Deb) Bond of Stillman Valley; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Jack also is survived by one brother, Jim Bond; and one sister, Betty Harms. Dorothy also is survived by one sister, Adeline Sheehan.
