Glad that pet dogs can pay visits to CGH
Regarding the Feb. 25 article “Fido welcome at CGH,” and “We can’t remember when we haven’t done it this way,” I’m a retired CGH nurse, and I can remember the days when it wasn’t done this way.
The way it was done was on the “sly.” It was easy with small dogs, but mostly impossible with larger or even medium-sized dogs.
I remember having a patient who was longing to see his dog. His dog was a larger, rare-breed dog. I tried to get permission for his dog to visit my patient in his room. The only way for that to happen was to have the patient’s doctor write an order for the patient to be taken outside – not for the dog to be brought inside.
