Alzheimer’s summit registration due

DIXON – Registration is due by Friday for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Illinois Action Summit, taking place March 13 in Springfield.

Participants will meet in the morning at the Lincoln Hotel for training and a briefing about the association’s policy priorities for this year. Later, they will visit the state Capitol to meet with Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon at her office, and meet with other members of the state Senate and House.

It was easy to get distracted by the performance of it all. The active shooter drill held by Sterling and County Police last week at the high school. The scenario; two armed shooters in the school killing students and teachers and the police and medical technician's response. It's an unfortunate drill, but a necessary one.
