William 'Bill' Hollingsworth

BAXTER SPRINGS, Mo. – William "Bill" Hollingsworth, 90, of Baxter Springs, formerly of Nelson, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.

Bill was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Independence, Kan., the son of John and Ella Mae (Kent) Hollingsworth. He married Mary Jones on Sept. 13, 1941, in Dixon. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Lee (Linda) Hollingsworth of Sterling; two daughters, Laurie (Robert "Bob") Olson of Gaithersburg, Md., and Billie Hollingsworth-Gess of Baxter Springs; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

Derfelt's Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made in care of the family.
