Wedding item from 1893 is rather quaint
I would like to share with your readers and staff the text of an old clipping I found stapled to the title page of my great-grandmother’s Bible.
Her name was Louisa Wolf. She married George Munz on Nov. 25, 1893. They lived on the Munz farm north of Sterling. I thought you and your readers would be interested in the quaint writing style used in the report of their wedding. I’ve added a few notes.
“At Christ (pronounced Chris with a “t” on the end, nickname for Christian) Wolf’s fine home in Jordan (township) … a goodly crowd gathered to do honor to the wedded couple, who are so favorably known. The snow had ceased and the tinkling of sleigh bells announced the arrival of the guests. In they came, happy and cold, and were soon busily exchanging greetings and absorbing comfort from the fires that glowed up stairs and down.
