Individuals free to make their own choices
In response to Charles Becker’s letter on Feb. 26 [“Saddened by 40 years of legal abortion”], I have to say I was rather angry about the overly-biased terms and use of his religion as if it was something that validated his point. I couldn’t help but to repeatedly glance down at the printed First Amendment just below his letter of religious propaganda.
Abortion is a right possessed by a woman and will remain as such. Charles failed to mention that a fetus is both scientifically, and legally, lacking qualities that make it an actual human. I understand the controversy over the subject, but an acorn is not a tree, and an egg is not a chicken.
Mr. Becker also went on to argue in favor of “traditional marriage,” a term used to disguise one person’s prejudice as if it were a noble cause.
Do you know what traditional marriage actually was? It consisted of one man and multiple wives.
Things change with time and understanding; so must our intolerance of those who live differently than us. If you oppose same-sex marriage, then don’t marry someone of the same sex.
Someone else’s choices have nothing to do with you, and your personal religious beliefs have nothing to do with us.
