Herman A. ‘Moon’ Rolle

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Herman A. “Moon” Rolle, 67, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Sterling, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at his home.

Herman was born Nov. 17, 1945, in Fort Lauderdale, the son of James A. and Nora B. Rolle. He graduated in 1963 from Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale. He married Coralie Potter in 1967, with whom he had three children and lived in Cambridge, Mass. He graduated in 1978 from Roxbury Community College in Roxbury Crossing, Mass. While there, he was the editor of the school paper and studied early childhood development. Herman moved to Sterling in 1982 and worked at Frantz Manufacturing Co., from 1983 to 1993. He married Kathleen Wolf in 1983, and they had two children. Herman loved fishing, music, working with children, coaching youth sports, and creative writing throughout his life. Herman returned to Fort Lauderdale in 2002, where he was surrounded by the loving care and support of his family and friends in South Florida.

He is survived by his mother, Nora B. Rolle, and sister, JoAnn Rolle-Jackson, both of Fort Lauderdale; sons, Andre Rolle of Malden, Mass., Terrence Rolle of Framingham, Mass., and Isaac Rolle and Aaron Rolle, both of Chicago; grandson, Tahdiq Rolle of Framingham; uncle and aunt, Edward Sr. and Cora Reid of Boston; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lenora Rolle; father, James; brother, James Jr.; and sister, Cobretha Rolle.

The service was Saturday at St. John United Methodist Church in Fort Lauderdale. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Fort Lauderdale. Elijah Bell Funeral Services in Pompano Beach, Fla., handled arrangements.
