HENRY – Lucile Marie “Sally” Pletsch, 95, of McNabb, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Henry.

Sally was born June 1, 1917, in Jewel, Iowa, to Harold and Ethel (McCord) Fay. She married Robert L. Pletsch on Oct. 14, 1939.

She graduated in 1932 from Hopkins High School in Granville. She was a waitress and cook at Swains Restaurant in McNabb, and a lifelong Putnam County resident. Sally also was an avid golfer and a member of Edgewood Golf Course.

Sally was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church; the McNabb City Council from 1990 to 2011; McNabb Park Board from 1990 to 2011 and Emmaus Lutheran Church Ladies Aide. She was a McNabb Business and Betterment Association charter member and an election judge for Putnam County. She also was a longtime volunteer for Putnam County Historical Society, Illinois Valley Quilting Guild, and the Covered Bridge Quilting Guild. On May 9, 1999, Sally received a lifetime membership in the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging Gallery of Ageless Achievers.  

Survivors include one son, Lloyd (Karen) Pletsch of Rock Falls; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, two sons-in-law, Ben Day and Denny Chambers; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert L. Pletsch; two daughters, Patricia Day and Judith Chambers; and two brothers, Earl Fay and Carlton Fay.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Emmaus Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ann Ziegert officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery in McNabb.

Pallbearers will be Tony Day, Bill Day, A.J. Chambers, Christopher McQuillan, Benjamin Day, and Ryan Day. Honorary pallbearer will be Jennifer Ibarra.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmaus Lutheran Church.
