House Republicans delay concealed-carry debate
SPRINGFIELD (AP) — The Illinois House didn't even complete debate on the first of more than two dozen amendments to concealed-carry gun legislation before Republicans shut it down.
Speaker Michael Madigan — a Chicago Democrat — set up a process Tuesday to debate court-required concealed-carry legislation issue by issue. Lawmakers filed 27 amendments covering varying aspects of the issue.
But discussion of the first meaningful amendment wasn't complete before the GOP called a private caucus until 3:30 p.m.
