BEEVILLE, Texas – Doris Janet Stouffer Barlow, of Beeville, Texas, formerly of Lee Center, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Hacienda Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beeville. 

She was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Sublette, 3 days before the “first” Armistice was signed at the end of World War I. She was the fifth of 13 children born to Elmer Grim Stouffer and Myrtle (Helfrich) Stouffer.

She married Frank H. Barlow on July 24, 1940, at Sublette Union Church. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2008. 

She is survived by one daughter, Janet Barlow of Beeville; three sons, Dana (Bev) Barlow of Eldena, Ralph (Susan) Barlow of Erie, and Dale (Shirley) Barlow of Amboy; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Irma Bonnell of Amboy and Lois Day of Osage Beach, Mo.; her brother, Paul (Mary) Stouffer of Dixon; sisters-in-law; cousins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Brett; three sisters, Helen Daniels, Elaine Hasselman Passwater, and Dorothy Conderman; and six brothers, John, Elton “Si,” Dale, Harold, Elmer “Tim,” and Kenneth. 

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, with the Rev. Lynn Bond officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the United Heart Fund, the American Lung Association, or the charity of one’s choice.
