MORRISON – The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office wants area businesses to be aware of a potential scam in which a caller claims to have been retained by the county to conduct services on the county’s behalf.

Neither the sheriff's office or other county offices handle county business through an outside agency, Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi said in a news release.

He urges all county residents to be aware of the potential scam, and asks anyone with information on this or any other possible scam to call his office at 815-772-4044.
