RNA 516 teams up with Bethesda Blaze

MORRISON – Prophetstown Royal Neighbors of America, Chapter 516 sponsored a matching fundraiser for the Bethesda Blaze Relay for Life Team on Jan. 26 at Hilltop Lanes in Morrison.

Team members from Bethesda Lutheran Church and representatives from RNA 516 sponsored “Lets Strike Out Cancer,” a the Scotch Doubles bowling competition. About 125 people attended and helped raise $1,468.65. RNA National Headquarters in Rock Island, matched $1,000 for a total of $2,468.65. The proceeds will go toward the Whiteside County Relay For Life of the American Cancer Society.

Bethesda Blaze will participate in the 18th annual Whiteside County Relay For Life event June 8-9 at Hinders Field in Rock Falls. Last year the Society served 27,000 cancer patients in Illinois. Money raised through the relay will assist cancer patients, support cancer-fighting legislation and public health policies and help people understand how to reduce their cancer risks.

Bethesda Blaze has been an active participant in the relay since 2001, and has raised more than $77,500 in the fight against cancer. Last year the team achieved the Jade fundraising status level by raising $11,571.
