CHICAGO (AP) — Inmate M35067 will spend 38 years in the maximum-security Pontiac Correctional Center for murdering his third wife.

Prison officials confirmed Monday that Drew Peterson was moved to the prison about 100 miles southwest of Chicago after being processed at the Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill on Friday.

The ex-suburban police officer was sentenced last week for murdering Kathleen Savio in 2004. He's a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson.

The 59-year-old Peterson's projected parole date is May 7, 2047, when he'd be 93.

Peterson could get extra security because he's an ex-cop, which could make him the target of other inmates.

Peterson told his lawyers he was looking forward to leaving Will County, where he was prosecuted. The Pontiac prison is in Livingston County.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
