DIXON – Edward H. Metzler, 82, of Dixon, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.

He was born March 17, 1930, in Dixon, the son of Howard and Elizabeth (Haas) Metzler. He was a veteran of the Army. He married Annette True on April 7, 1956, in Sterling. He had been a crew leader for Commonwealth Edison for 38 years, retiring on Feb. 24, 1987. He also had been a weather cooperative observer for the National Weather Service for 25 years. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon and Dixon American Legion Post 12.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Susan Fernandez of Loves Park; and two granddaughters, Angela Fernandez of Chicago and Andrea (Steve) Harnden of Lombard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Michael Morrissey officiating. A lunch will follow at the church. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Jones Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.
