Neighborhood schools good for budgets, kids
With all of Dixon Schools’ money problems, why not try a simple solution to one of them: the cost of fuel.
Put the grade schools back into each quarter of the city. Let the majority of the students walk. This would answer more than the problem of using fuel we can’t pay for.
In addition, children would get exercise that would stimulate their brains. They would once again be among children of varying ages, which helps them to relate to the world around them. They would walk off excess energy and be ready to sit still for class.
