ROCK FALLS – Marilyn J. Appenzeller, 74, of Rock Falls, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Marilyn was born May 17, 1938, in Rock Falls, the daughter of Lloyd and Leona (Alberts) Palmer. She married Jack Appenzeller on Aug. 19, 1962. Marilyn was a florist for many years, employed for 30 years by Scott’s Store in Rock Falls and 20 years by Red Apple in Rock Falls. She was a 40-year member of the Rock Falls Eagles Club.  

Survivors include four daughters, Jackie Holbrook of Sterling, Christine (Art) Como of Rock Falls, Sharon (Bob) Spease of Jacksonville, Ark., and Beth (Matt) Wicklund of Hummelstown, Pa.;  four sons, Michael Appenzeller of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joe (Christina) Appenzeller, Art (Lori) Walters and Kevin Walters, all of Rock Falls; two sisters, Jean Pleskovitch of Dixon and Carol (Ray) Carlson of Sterling; two sisters-in-law, Betti Appenzeller and Betty Ward, both of Rock Falls; one brother-in-law, Frank Fisher of Rock Falls; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Shirley Bell; one son, Lester Appenzeller; brother-in-law, Gene Bell; and sister-in-law, Pat Fisher.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with an Eagles service at 6:45 p.m., Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Porter of Abiding Word Church in Sterling officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
