MENDOTA – Safe Sitter classes for youth 11 to 13 will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 23 in Conference Room C at Mendota Community Hospital, 1401 E. 12th St.

The program, taught by hospital staff, is an instructional series that teaches how to handle emergencies when caring for young children. Business aspects of baby-sitting, and knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities also will be discussed.

The course involves activities and hands-on demonstrations. Practice stations and a written test are part of the training.
