RFHS board delays votes on administrators

ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls High School Board Wednesday postponed a vote on a new principal and on the contract for incoming Superintendent Ron McCord because three of the seven board members were not present.

The board plans to vote on both issues at its March 20 meeting, Superintendent Jane Eichman said.

Merle Gaulrapp, John Brackemeyer and Howard Janssen were absent.

In other matters, the board voted 4-0 to expel a student for the rest of this school year, all of next school year and the first semester of the 2014-15 school year. Eichman declined to provide any further information.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
