ROCK FALLS – A Rock Falls man who was seriously injured when his scooter hit a car Monday near the First Avenue Bridge, and who had a stroke 2 days later, was in critical condition Thursday in a Rockford hospital.

Larry Boss, 77, was heading from Rock Falls to Sterling to sell the scooter when he ran a red light and hit a car, said his son, Scott Boss, 50, also of Rock Falls.

The elder Boss was at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford Thursday, being treated for bleeding in his brain, a shattered eye socket, broken ribs, a fractured hip, and a stroke he suffered on Wednesday, his son said.

Boss wants his dad’s friends to know he’s in the hospital, and might not make it.

“He’s got lots of friends,” Boss said. “He’s a very nice man, a gentleman. He is known by so many people around here.”
