ROCKFORD (AP) — Officials at Rockford's airport have honored a retired congressman by naming one of the airport's buildings the "Donald A. Manzullo International Terminal."
Manzullo represented the Rockford area in Congress for two decades before he retired on Jan. 3.
The Rockford Register Star (http://bit.ly/YA0FWg ) reports that Manzullo was on hand Tuesday to be honored for his efforts on behalf of the Chicago Rockford International Airport, including securing funds and U.S. Customs inspection service for the international terminal.
Manzullo says "it was a real bear" to get approval for the international terminal, which opened in 2006. And he says he's honored to have it named for him.
Tuesday's ceremony included a videotaped appearance by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, who calls Manzullo a "tireless advocate for northern Illinois."
