DIXON – The School Board met in closed session Tuesday to figure out where it stands in regard to negotiations with the teachers union.
Superintendent Michael Juenger said the Dixon School Board will pass on its wishes to its negotiating team. Before closed session, no one offered public comment. No action was taken Tuesday.
Teachers have been working without a contract since August, and could call a strike by next Tuesday. The board is scheduled to meet for a negotiating session with the Dixon Education Association on Monday.
When asked Tuesday if the board plans to make any adjustments to its last offer, Juenger said: “I would venture to say yes,” without going into any specifics.
The school board also will meet at 6:30 p.m. tonight in the Washington Elementary School gym, 703 E. Morgan St.
Information items on the agenda include the 1-cent sales tax, the Lee/Ogle Regional Office of Education in Grand Detour lease, 5Essentials Survey and results of the board planning session.
The board will vote on the 2013-2014 calendar, a health/life safety amendment for Reagan Middle School, the district improvement plan and interscholastic activities.
