Board to buy new microphone system

DIXON – The Lee County Board agreed Tuesday to pay $35,850 for a new microphone system to replace their 17-year-old, now-defunct system.

The new system, which will be installed by Johnsburg-based RollCall-Pro, also will be able to record and to project agendas on the wall.

The board also voted to amend its lease with River Ridge Animal Hospital. The lease, which had no end date, now will end Dec. 31; future leases must be signed by Nov. 1 and will last a year.

The board also:

– Agreed to pay $140,000 for a hot mix asphalt overlay project on County Line Road from Lee to Perry roads. The project will cost about $700,000; the other 80 percent will be paid with federal funds.

– Laid over until March a resolution to increase dog tag fees. Two-thirds of the money raised would go to Animal Control, which has a budget deficit of $8,853. The increases would raise $22,691 a year, based on last year's fees. The increases, if approved, are projected to raise enough revenue to keep the Animal Control Office in the black for 5 years.

– Agreed to pay $445.55 for a laptop computer so that board members may easily attain information about the county's budget.

– Disbanded the public building commission, which was formed 15 to 18 years ago but never has been used.
